A-Z Blog: Bach

"The more I want to get something done -- the less I call it work." Richard Bach

All I REALLY want to do is write, edit, revise, and finish my projects. I mean, I enjoy teaching, of course...I mean I have done it for 19 years now, so there must be something keeping me going back every day. Even as much as I love my teaching gigs, what I REALLY yearn for is time to play with my novels and other projects. I want to bring more of my characters to life and let other people get to know them. And, as Mr. Bach said, there is no part of author life I consider to be work.

Someone asked me once, "Don't you think you'll get bored, just writing all the time?"

Um. No. No. I don't. Have we met?

First of all, writing is my life blood. I feel more natural with a pen in my hand than I do without it (a part of my job I struggle with is how rarely I need to write things -- so I try to incorporate writing as much as I can because holding a pen brings me balance.)

Secondly, did you read yesterday about how many projects I have started? How can anyone get bored with over 40 projects to choose from?

Also, there is much more to the author life than "just writing" (and yes, that made me twitchy) and every part of it sounds like everything I have ever wanted wrapped up in a bow. I look forward to not having to work anymore, one day, and just getting to write.
